A political party cannot be all things to all people.  It must represent certain fundamental beliefs, which must not be compromised to political expediency or simply to swell it's numbers....  And if there are those who cannot subscribe to these conservative principals, then let them go their own way.

The PAChyderm Coalition Executive Board wants to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for the generous donation of a fully functional blog site for our use.  The professionally designed blog was originally created a few years ago and was very influential in the political scene here in Arizona.  A series of business and personal events in the lives of the original creators forced them to suspend the daily work of keeping the blog current.  Because those circumstances have not been resolved, we were approached with the offer to turn over the site to our control.

To this end, you will note that there is a new tab at the top of this page titled Pachy Blog.  By clicking on that tab, you will be directed to the blog for current political information of note.   If you have any news of interest or background material that you would like to make available to our members or the public at large, please feel free to submit such material to: Pachy@q.com.

Any material received will be reviewed, edited and/or evaluated for publication.  Our desire is to have this outlet represent the voice of conservatives in Arizona.  Thank you for your contributions to this new endeavor now and in the future..

is one of Arizona's leading authorities on education issues. In addition to being the current Senate Education Chairman, Huppenthal has served for 17 consecutive years on the State House and State Senate education committees.

"Improving Arizona's schools has been my life's work" said Huppenthal. "I've worked closely with teachers and parents on education issues for nearly two decades, so I'm very familiar with the challenges and opportunities Arizona schools face."

Huppenthal has articulated a vision for improving education in Arizona. As Superintendent of Public Instruction, Huppenthal would:

    • Expand parental choice in education.

    • End social promotion by directing parents towards the most academically productive schools, particularly those doing the most effective jobs in teaching reading and math skills at the k-3 level.

    • Improve customer support at the Department of Education, including providing strong technical support to teachers and school districts, and continuing to improve the licensing turn around time.

    • Establish a research council to create best practice models for our schools. This council will evaluate the best research for improving schools, and will shine a spotlight on our most academically productive schools in Arizona.

    • Provide more guidance to parents in choosing the best school for their child by building on Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) by measuring the percentage of parents rating their child's school quality of education excellent; and provide more guidance to parents and teachers by measuring and publicizing the percentage of teachers rating their school an "excellent place to work."

    • Enhance career and technical education by identifying more occupations, developing a world-class curricula and establishing certifications which guarantee students high paying jobs upon graduation.

Here's Why The Discretionary Spending Freeze Is A Joke

The White House revealed that President Barack Obama will propose a 3 year freeze in discretionary spending during the State of the Union tomorrow night.

Will the freeze make a material difference in the overall spending by the government or the budget deficit?

Not likely.

Discretionary spending was unlikely to grow by very much in the future, at least not as a percentage of the GDP. That's even more true if defense spending is exempt from the freeze, as it is in Obama's proposal. The real sources of spending growth are non-discretionary: the net interest expense on the national debt and entitlement spending.

The chart above shows the government's own projections of its spending as a percentage of GDP. Discretionary spending is shown in the beige section of the bar. As you can see, freezing discretionary spending will do very little to reduce overall spending.Read

Arnold May Be On To Something! Minimize

From The Business Insider

Schwarzenegger: Outsource Prisoners To Mexico

schwarzenegger tbiSchwarzeneggers's daily stunts to keep his state afloat are getting more ridiculous.

The governor probably wasn't joking yesterday, when he suggested outsourcing California's overcrowded prison system to Mexico.

Specifically, he would send the state's 19,000 imprisoned illegal immigrants to prisons south of the border.

SF Chronicle:

"We pay them to build the prisons down in Mexico and then we have those undocumented immigrants be down there in a prison. ... And all this, it would be half the cost to build the prisons and half the cost to run the prisons," Schwarzenegger said, predicting it would save the state $1 billion that could be spent on higher education.

Lou Dobbs

would have a picnic with that.
